I would like to upgrade to rack and pinion steering, I've Seen prefabbed kits for mustangs In NPD but theyre a bit pricey. Anyone have any more afordable ways of converting? Cheaper kits? Junk yard parts swaps? Or maybe you got an extra you can sell me Power steering is cool but not a must have for me. Appreciate your help as always

Rod n custom made the one for my Maverick, it's for a Maverick. RC-107 kit.
the reason the kits cost what they cost is...they come with everything you need.
    every nut, bolt and washer.

Unless you are willing to spend at least $1000....just get a power steering set-up off of a Maverick.

I have some used set-ups. Email me DIRECTLY (see below) if I can help.

    I concur Frank :
For what it's worth ... I 've put these racks from ROD & CUSTOM on Two Comets , and One Maverick .. and they're complete and well designed . Beats the stuffing out of the old stock Ford units .

I'll check out those kits. I do already have stock power steering and it works and all, but I would like to get rid the old drag link and steering box. (Even though I just bought brand new tie rod ends , oh well)

I looked for RC-107 kit, it looks like thats way more parts than i want to swap out. Just want to do steering box delete, I already upgraded the suspension(SPC a arms ,springs, adj strut rods etc.) its not a M2 but the only stock parts up front are steering box, drag link and idler arm. Or Maybe I' m looking at the wrng kit. NPD has unisteer kits like what im looking for but for mustang. NPD is local for me but not usually the cheapest, plus its not maverick specific so im not sure what needs fabbing.

Nick Dominick, a forum member has the Unisteer R& P setup on his car; his car was the mule for the specific Maverick/Comet kit. IIRC, Unisteer has the kit listed on Ebay. Nick is a big Facebook poster, recently done a complete resto on his car.

There is a member on the forum who modified a Cheby Caviliar R&P system on his car. I think he sold that car. If I can recall his handle; I will post it.

Also, 55crownvic, is the other member doing the Cheby rack setup. Hope this helps.
I have the Borgeson steering box on my car, both this and Unisteer kind of pricey. All depends on the mod's you willing to make and finances.
