Hey Dave, does your Allstar shaft fit your flaming river universal?

It is done on purpose. The retaining ring is the same way. What you do is assemble them onto the shaft and twist them in opposite directions, then tighten the set screw. That will lock the bearing to the shaft.

Flaming River responded to my email. Quick response. They said any 3/4"DD shaft should fit their universal. They said I could either file it till it fits, or send it back to them & they will replace it. Since I dont want to pay the shipping costs, I just did some filing and smoothed out with emery paper. Fits now.

Had fun this weekend turning 2 3/8" solid aluminum into bearing retainers. Had to make 3. One for me and two for Nick. With this set up I can lock the bearing into the retainer, lock the retainer to the base of the column, and still retain the collapsable column. So no chance of the lower shaft working its way out as I was originally concerned about.

I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask this, new to the forum and a new Maverick owner. With running the Cav rack for the Mav, what pump can be used? I have a 302 that had power steering, can that pump be used?

The 302 is out of an 88 Cougar that I am planning to stroke and put in the Mav. My Maverick is a '71 and has the 200 straight 6 currently.
