Holy crap thats nice! from your neighbor in Suwanee. Dan, I'm changeing what I said before. Yours is the nicest restored '71 Grabber. Georgia is the mecca of Mavericks. :bananaman
Thanks to Dan for pics and documentation. Thanks to Ralph to making me feel so inadequate to own a Maverick.
That solenoid looks the same as the one on my grandpa's '93 Aerostar... My '69.5 Canada built car has a normal one on it. It looks original, but I have no idea if it actually is or not.
The pictures I have of the original engine compartments show the standard looking one ... not that one. Perhaps whatever the assembly line had in the parts bin that day got installed? Also the pictures I have of my Grabber when I got it also showed it had the standard looking solenoid ... and I'm pretty sure I remember it saying Autolite on it when I replaced it so I am pretty sure it was original ...
I used to work at an auto electrical shop in the 70's and it just seems like I didn't see that style of solenoid come out till the late 70's or early 80's. But then again, that's been a long time and I have been wrong before.
