Nice, I love those old Falcon trucks and Econoline Vans My cousin had a Falcon truck like that, he had blueprints and everything to make it a Wheelstander...
Ahh, the old Suicide Vans & Trucks as my Uncle used to call 'em. I've been a fan of those old beasts ever since I saw the Dodge A-100 wheel stander Bill Golden used to run go all the way down the track on it's skid plates showering sparks behind it. Oh, I asked my Uncle why he called them that. His reply was: "If you hit something head on in one of those trucks, you just committed suicide!" I think I'll take his word on that and not test his theory personally! -Scott H.
This truck is less than an hour from me. Me too! Q: I have given some thought to intergalactic space travel. This ford.properly refitted,a supply of Tang,a space suit with an internal diaper, and a good rocket, might be the answer to exploring the outer reaches. No room for a fatty, just the ole dog,Buckshot. Jan-03-10 A: I agree, can't believe I left that out of the description. Super, thanks!
You don't have to hit something either, just hit the brakes real hard and you swear you're gonna roll right over! (Personal Experience)
I casually know a guy in my town that has one of those Falcon trucks. He says that there is a counterweight in the back to help with the front/rear weight distribution. A neighbor 3 houses up, has a similar year Econoline van in his driveway since I returned from doing Christmas in Idaho. Haven't had a chance to ask him about the Scooby Doo mystery machine van in his driveway yet.
Yep, I loved the short wheel base one I had in the early 90's. Mine was a 70's survivor with the gaudy graphics and everything still in good shape. I would still have it except a couple of young punks stole it and rolled it in a chase with the cops, totaling it out. I ended up getting a long wheel base Chevy Van to replace it and wasn't nearly as happy with it as I was with the Econoline. If I could find another short wheel base one in good shape I might consider buying it, but finding all the 70's equipment for it would be tough today! Even J.C.Whitney has stopped listing the parts that were so common on the customs of the day. -Scott H.
