The ladder bars are correct ,do not move them out to the rails, unless this is going to be a drag car.
Why do you need to know what year the axle is. The basic difference in axles is the distance between king pins and perch pins.
It appears that the ladder bars are triangulated intentionally to stabilize the rear suspention. That is a good thing. The panhard bar is usually mounted to the top of the dif. housing not to the axle tube and would eliminate your problem there.
I went through a mess with the DMV trying to get the car registered. The VIN needs to be verified and I had to get it weighed and then the DMV lady didn't want to deal with it at all so said I need to go to CHP. So I'm dealing with that right now, seems like it will work out ok.
So we have got it in a more "presentable" shape so we can get it registered. Headlight temporarily installed, fuel cans installed...I really like the look. put some seats in there
here is the window frame I have....seems that it was already cut down to size, it's a decent fit. Can I just take this somewhere to get glass made for it?
yes you can take it to a regular glass shop that deals in auto glass and have them cut you a window to fit. it is never cheap when it comes to something that isnt out of the box fit. maybe if youre lucky you can take a measurement of the frame you have and look at back windows for old coupes maybe one will fit. back in the 30's and 40's back windows were almost not there.
so the drag link is a mess, it flopped around a lot and wasn't even the right length. So, removed it, cut it and put a heim in there instead. I did my measurements, needed 30.75" eye to eye. . I don't have the picture of the red rod but Bry had that laying around. It has a 3/4" heim in there and by magic the tube fit perfect over the old drag ling. I measure the right size and drilled a hole as well and added 2 spot welds. Then welded the edges and done!! here it is welded now it's the right size, fits really well. I have to find the proper size bolt and bore out the pittman arm and I'm good to go.
