Rear window louvers.

I also used shelby t/l panel and bezels and lenses on the rear with a 65 stang rear valance and a 71-73 rear bumper and brackets along with a 71-73 mustang pop open gas cap. On the front I used a 65 stang fiberglass front valance that had seen better days which had to be cut down on each end along with a 65 stang front bumper and brackets. On the side louver install I covered window opening with sheet metal and body filler to use 2005 stang optional aftermarket side louvers and on the inside I made a cover out of flexable plexiglass and painted int color. The previous owner had cut a huge hole in the hood so I cut down a used fiberglass bond on scoop to cover the opening. wes

Can we get more pictures of the louvers? Different angles, up close, etc? Also clearance on the trunk lid open to the lower louver?

I have a connection with a company that can put louvers in sheet metal any size and depth. Kinda interested in seeing what they look like to make somethin happen

 

Too bad someone couldn't come up with a way to mount the trunk lid so that it pops open the 12 inches, and then slides out and away from (along) the hinges (like a drawer) the neccessary distance to clear the bottom louvers when the lid is fully raised.

I've never been a big fan of these, but they are starting to grab my attention. When I was building my 4dr 20 years ago, I stopped into a house where a guy had a Maverick. He mentioned he had a set of these, and I often wonder if he still has them. This will be one of my first stops I'll make once my car is finished.

Here is a set of louvers that came on one of my donor Mavericks. I like the looks of it but have not decided if I will keep it and use it on mine or not.

I think if a guy would powder coat the rear window trim the color of the louvers then it would look awesome!

Had a set like these .. sold them to another member last year .. he was glad to get them so if you're not going to
keep them .. there are lots of people out there that I'm sure would be interested ..be sure to save the two clips that fasten the louvers to the stainless trim they're hard to duplicate .. I didn't install them on any of
MY cars because it made it difficult to open the Trunk with the louvers in place.

I've been thumbing through this feed because I've always loved the look of louvers and have been thinking of installing a set on my mav.

I understand the controversy on the looks and the head ache involved with the trunk space. I had an idea while reading and thought it might help, sorry if it was already mentioned.

I got a set of louvers off an 80's Daytona to put on another car and I rember that the whole setup was hinged with a built in prop rod. I don't believe they did this for fitment issues but for cleaning. There were two quick release tabs on the bottom and you could just lift the whole thing up and prop it. I believe this would solve the trunk space problem, if you wouldn't mind lifting the louvers to open the trunk. If you're like me and appreciate that look I think it would be a small price to pay.
