Did you see the funkiness going on under the dash where the air vent sits? What's that all about?

Are you talking about the attempted cowl repair?? Looks like someone tried to fix it from the inside at some point.

I guess that's what it is. I thought maybe it was a non-AC car and someone tried to graft an AC box into that spot. Because there is even fiberglass work where the AC bolt up to the underside of the dash. Should I take that off or leave it along for now til I get it repaired?

Does it have one or two vents?(the circle holes in the cowl). IIRC factory AC cars only have one on the passenger side. While non AC cars have two that open when you pull the vent knob. You should see the mess a PO did on my AC, they used house foam insulation and other crap. That i still have to fix lol

all that is holding the dash on now is the two bolts on the bottom of the dash at each end and there may be some nuts at the steering colum. you will need to unplug the wirring harness at both ends. once you get the dash out you can remove harness from the dash and plug it back in. you can set the insterment cluster on the steering colum and hook it back up. you will want to remove the head light switch and wiper switches and plug them in. then your car should be fully driveable.

    Dash is out.

Here is the headlight and wiper switch.

Press this little button (you can't see it) and you can wiggle the whole knob with the rod out.

Large screwdriver to unscrew the knob.

I used this pic to press the little lever down on the the wiper knob and that came off like a charm.

I used these pliers to get the wiper bezel to unscrew.

I undid the bolts to lower the steering column so I can get at this last middle bolt.

It's hard to see in this pic but the last bolt is right above the steering column.

    Tadaaaa.

The funny part is I get to drive the car around like this for a while now until I go see bryant. I love it.

If that was my car I'd go and buy my self and nice new, shiny wiper motor.
Like I said "if it was my car" that old wiper motor would fail as soon as I got that damn dash back in. Just my luck and from experience I would change the motor. :yup:

That setup looks like a factory AC to me. It looks just like the one I have reconditioned and waiting to go back in my Comet as soon as the wx gets nice enough to work on it.

My horn button came with my grand steering wheel. There is an installation kit for grant wheels too that you need to get. Let me find some pics.
