Ed. I wasn't sure I was going to go until the last minute, otherwise I would've called you.

I'd love it if you came out with me next time - you in your Maverick and me in
mine. Scott and gang from the South Side of Houston could meet up with us there.
    We'll PWN the place! :drive::drive::drive::drive:

Now that I have a decent radiator, I should have no problems driving my mav longer distances. It just used to get hot after 20-30 miles. Should have no heat issues anymore :D

We would love to come up, maybe even make a few passes.

Is it only 1/8th? This is Houston Motorsports Park off of Beltway 8 near CE King? Right?

I'm not sure either. Reliability maybe?

Richard (the guy who owns Strictly Performance and did my tune) uses one on his 8 second Street Bandit car and says he won't use anything else. When he was testing my T-brake (what seemed like a few dozen times), he handled the shifter like he was out on a Sunday drive.

BTW, here's a video of him at the track I ran at last night. This little 'incident' happened earlier this year. It's all back together now. (Maybe it was the Quarter Stick's fault ;) ).

Yes, it's 1/8th mile. It's off Beltway 8. I'm not sure where CE King is. Here's the link to their site: http://www.houstonmotorsportspark.com/

You guys could crash at our place that night if you didn't feel like driving all the way back to Angleton.

    Let's plan on it soon.

We might take you up on that offer...

Real soon. Anna has to take a test next weekend, but soon, before it gets cold and they shut the tracks down.

EDIT--Anna said her test is on the 28th.

I need to get a spacer under my driver side header, then 2 new boots, and I am ready to race! (y)

Damn!!! I just watched that video...That is what scares me about racing. Luckily, he was WAY ahead of the other guy or he would have gotten T-boned!

That's why I think there should be a cutoff in bracket racing. Giving a guy a 2-3 tree leave then coming up on him at twice his speed at the finish line has all the makings of a bad day at the track.

so what if they blew up a motor on the dyno... im sure there is a waiver saying they are not liable?

how would they know what they CANNOT run to unless they run it there... makes me hesitant to run my engine that high.. i run up to 5200 and it doesnt like much more than that. it sounds like the lifters float when i do it.. and when it does shift and floating the lifters, it runs like crap till the end of the track

I don't think anyone is arguing that the shop is responsible.

In my particular case, either the tuner 'just knew' from the sound when to let off, or, he was watching one of the two computer screens he had around him and could tell where the drop-off was occurring.

from the ones I have been around its a little of both.
Sound can be the first sign...but once a dyno starts losing ponies....they should let off....makes no since to run it to 8-9 grand if the pony numbers are not still going up. Any good dyno person will do everything they can to take care of your motor.

I thought it'd be (sadistically) interesting to see if there were any vids of engines blowing up on the dyno on youtube.com.

    Corvette Z06:

    NSX:

    VW Golf (?)

    Talon: (carnage on the floor)

    LS1: (Nice flame)

    Not sure (BIG flame)

Scary thing is some of those really weren't cranking out any serious RPMs. I guess I would expect some MAJOR high reving before I expected any blowout.

Otherwise known as N'Orleans Dragway. Next time come on out to the REAL race track. :evilsmile HRP was hooking good on Friday night!!!

RPM doesn't kill engines. Boost doesn't kill engines. Nitrous doesn't kill engines. STUPIDITY kills engines. Period.
