not to mention he may have changed his shift point from the last run, realizing he was shifting too soon.

Whats the yellow cord that he pulls at the end for? Fuel cutoff?

Either that or it's a fuel shut off (mechanical injection).

The shift light: For those of you who haven't raced a 4 or 5 speed much, take note. Many times a driver will choose to use the RPM limiter to shift. You'll notice that the light comes on, which is like saying "get ready" and then he'll shift it on the limiter...the limiter cuts ignition for a split second, which makes it easier to clutch and shift. Not everyone does it that way and I can't tell whether or not the fellow in the vid is shifting on the limiter or not...it almost appears that he does during the 3-4 shift, but again, I can't tell for sure.

That is exactly how I used to shift my old 4 wheeler. ON the limiter...hold the shifter up with some pressure and when the ignition cut off it'd go right into the next gear.

I've done more than my share of stickshift driving and I never miss the shift light. I have heard of some people using the rev limiter to shift a Jerico transmission since it only needs a "blip" in the rpm's in order to snatch another gear. Kinda hard on valvesprings though.

Right on the money. I didn't do that with any of my nitrous cars, but that's the way to do it N/A IMO.

That was cool! That car must be a hand full though. I'd never take my hand off the shifter between gears (unless it was an emergency) but he's doing a TON of steering!

That's what makes a 4, 5, 6 speed so much fun!! Automatics are (almost) boring in comparison. One time I thought that running a 'glide in mine would be boring. So far it hasn't been. That vid reminds me so much of my old SVO Mustang. I modded the motor a little....and with the 3.97 low WC T5, you simply could not shift the thing fast enough...it was a VERY fun car to drive. I miss the fun...but don't miss working on it and breaking down in the middle of nowhere.

    I don't think a C4 with a trans brake is boring at all. ;)
