I know mine clipped on. I can get a red top, but the bottom will stay blue, I guess. I saw a lot of debate on line if painting the distr is a good idea.
CHOKE.. So mine vacuum was broken off and this small plastic part was broken. Is a choke really necessary if I am not going to be driving it in the winter?
Should be one on your Maverick. I don't have operating choke on my Fairlane, starts and runs fine(can't say about cold weather operation). When I do the 347 swap, I'll connect the electric choke on 4 bbl carb.
cool, yep I got one of those. I had to replace it with a solid state couple years ago when I needed a new alternator. Hopefully the wiring is the same so I can use the uncut harness from the Maverick since they just cut the alt wires. EDIT.. I went and looked it looks like the same wires in fact the same alternator
Roger, it is going to be 41 degrees tonight here in northeast Ohio; you eventually want an operating choke. It can be embarrassing to be at a fall cruise-in and it takes multiple attempts to get your car running and keep it running due to a malfunctioning choke. Here in Ohio Hotrock will sometimes cool down enough just waiting in the staging lanes to come up on high idle when started. Cars that start and stay running on the first crank are impressive, it's all part of the package!
you make a very good point. I assume there is an aftermarket choke? One that I dont have to figure out how to hook to the headers now that there no manifolds to put the tube into?
Aftermarket choke setups on don't use heat tubes from manifold; they operate by electricity. OE chokes used heat tubes.
I am learning a lot doing this and from this thread. For example, today I learned that when the seller says "Yeah we drained the tranny oil" It doesnt mean what I think it means.....
Ignition Module... I cleaned up the ignition module today. Came out very shinny after I scrubbed off the white oxidation. My i6 didnt have a module. Anyone know where I can get info on how to wire this thing up to the 302 and Maverick? Let us pretend I dont know where any of it goes..
I don't have a wiring diagram, but hit that bad boy with some rattle can clear! It has a very workman-like look, not overly polished but just enough shine to give texture inside the engine compartment.
