I knew Joe, and his wife Dolly. I was a customer in the '70s, and later he bought the house across the street from my parents. I can't say I knew him well, but he was always friendly to me and never hesitated to offer advise and help when he could. I happy to have known him.

Dolly (Joe's wife) was a Randall (remember Randall's Rambler's??) and one of my mother's cousins. My father bought an old 55 Chevy from Joe in about 64. That's the first car I remember our family having. Dad used to go back to Joe for any parts he needed for the car so we spent a lot of time at Rundle's Speed Goodies on Saturdays. Loved hearing Joe talk about racing. He did race. Pro-stock I believe. He even took enough time to get in enough races one year (probably late '60s) to win the national series once from what I remember. If the car was tagged like this then there is a good chance it was one of his race cars. The local Beeline Dragway would have been where it was run the most in those years. Maybe there is some history you can google on the Dragway or the pro-stock series from those years?

I'll add here that I did get to see Joe one last time before he died. I was passing through Payson, AZ and saw the Rundle's Speed Goodies shop sign on the south end of town and pulled in. He remembered me and my father. Great guy. Hopefully the car is still good karma for you!
