So with the Rust Bullet it's just a one step process? Por-15 recommends you buy 1) Marine Clean 2) Metal Ready (rust converter solution) 3) Por-15 paint 4) Top coat paint.
1. Rust Bullet recommends removing all the loose and scaley rust with wire brushes and elbow grease. 2. The next step is to clean the area of all dust. 3. Once dust is removed, clean entire area with acetone and let it dry. I accelerated this process using an air hose with a water filter. 4. Now, you apply one coat of Rust Bullet, let it cure, and apply the second coat. You must use two coats. I used brushes and rollers. However, you can use a spray gun. I have article in the tech article section on doing a trunk pan repair using Rust Bullet and fiberglass.
If you are considering using Rust Bullet - go to their web site. It is a really good one and has all the information you could ever want. http://www.rustbullet.com/
One more thing on Rust Bullet. When ordering, get the Rust Bullet Automotive. It leaves a smoother finish. BTW, you can paint Rust Bullet with your favorite finish.
Refer to FAQ #3 http://www.rustbullet.com/FAQ.htm#3 You need to buy small cans, med. cans, and large cans. It has a shelf life of 2 years. I bought the quart and pint sizes. Buy the Automotive version.
