Scooper's R&C power rack and pinion Mustang II "type" install.

I was reading on pro touring.com, that some guys have bent the upper coil over mounts...on the R&C front end...

 

Good thing I don't drive mine hard. :16suspect I've not heard this, and looking at the pieces, can't see where it would bend. The thing that worries me is the two bolts that hold the upper mounts on the frame. Those two brackets do support the weight of (the front end of) the car... Got a link?

 

I will def do the RC107.

Im thinking of getting the cross member first, and slowly buy parts. My daughter is due in 68 days, so cant drop 3K lol.

 

Well, next issue...Got transmission hooked back up and driveshaft, pulled air conditioner off, and installed just the intermediate powersteering bracket and the pump, and it all lines up, but now the belt is going to hit the lower radiator hose



Well, that is minor. At least the end is almost near. I am only a lube, distributor and headers away from being able to drive it. I have the lube, and the headers and distributor are in the mail on the way here

 

I had to route the belt differently than stock to miss the lower radiator hose. It is a stock sized belt for a 95 Explorer 4.0l. A picture is in my gallery if you want to take a look.

This picture is before the engine was in.

Those bottom A-arms are supposed to be level with the ground, and now that the engine and trans are in, they are still pretty angled. The suspension is out of whack enough that the nut on the rod ends hit the sway bar when I turn them.

Called R&C and he told me to start cutting the springs until the A-arms are level, which should also bring the car back down to closer to where I want the rake to sit at.

Cutting springs is a typical part of this installation, and I knew I was going to have to do it, but I am surprised I will need to cut it enough to lower it maybe 4".

 

Cut one complete coil out of both springs, and the lower A-arms are now level (but not in this picture, I just set it down off the jack).



And I ended up with Hedman shorty headers because they hug the block better and don't interfere with the steering linkage as much.

I bet you can't wait to be done and start driving it around to reap the benefits from all that hard work. lol

 

Sadly, I may be reassembling it just to sell it.

But yes, I want to carve some corners in it first!!!

Might be moving and going into semi-retirement, and won't have room for it.

I could always store it, and transport it if I re-settle and get another house. Not sure at this point.
