Apparently, it is a 6-qt pan, with a 7-qt system capacity.

They add a quart to the system capacity for the filter and etc. So, 7 quarts total.

Ordered sub frame connectors. Also will be sending in my designs for additional chassis support and connectors to tie the entire car together very well. Got an idea off of the Viper Maverick when he showed the under-body.

Man, it is HOT and HUMID!!! Still, I put on the last brake line. I will undo them just prior to the caliper and bleed them out, then hook them up and bleed the calipers.

Figured out that the Canton 6 qt pan needs 7 to 7-1/2 qts of oil. I stuck the dipstick in and started to add oil until it showed on the dipstick and got 9-1/2 qts in before it said FULL. Called Canton, and they said it is a generic dipstick that goes out with all pans. Fill it to 7 qts, or 7-1/2 if you want (after priming the oiling system), and then stick in the tube and dipstick, and cut it down to match the oil level.

I drained 2 qts out, pulled out the dipstick tube, and put in a plug.

Now I need to plumb the fuel line, and re-wire the distributor, and ready to haul it off to the muffler shop!

Almost there! I would be there quicker if it wasn't so damned hot and humid!

Also ordered all the parts for my "cool" air induction setup. Not "cold" air, because 1) we live in south Texas, there is no cold air here, and 2) not putting it inside a box, but just putting the cone filter behind the right headlight where it can get a breath of fresh air from the grille.

Got back to work on it today. Weather finally cooled down a bit and no other important plans this weekend.

Bled the front brakes nice and tight.

And pulled the steering column out and cut it up and now waiting for paint to dry before I put it all back together and start working on the intermediate steering shaft measure, cut, and installation.

Progress is good! I'm ordering another RC-104 kit tomorrow for my '63 Rambler American. Willie has agreed to build me one based on his Fairlane kit with the sloped frame rails...

Do you perhaps have your Rambler on some AMC site? I love looking at progress photos of suspension changes like this :thumbs2:

Brakes are still tight, and no leaks, so that is good.

Paint all dried and got the column all back together and installed.

I inherited a medium-sized bridgeport milling machine years ago, and since I had no place to put it, I "loaned" it to my wife's grandfather, who installed it in his huge workshop. I just happen to now live next door to that workshop, so I got plenty of time using the Bridgeport over the past two days. Glad it still works!!!

Filled the radiator with a bottle of Purple Ice, two gallons of 50/50, and topped off with water. I will have to top it off again once I get it running.

Transmission cooler is in the mail, should be delivered by Wednesday. Looks like this...

Thinking about running it installed to inside the frame rail beside the transmission, with new 3/8" steel tubing in and out.

Also bought a couple of mandrel bent pipes and an X-pipe so I can start on the exhaust.

So, at this point, I need to:

    1. install trans cooler and refill transmission.

    2. Run a fuel line to the carb and one to the nitrous.

    3. Hook up all wires in engine bay.

    4. Drive like a mad man!

Sure feels good to be working on the car again. The summers here are BRUTAL! I just have to give up working on it around May or so.

Upon looking at the pictures, I notice loc-tite on my screws. That is ugly, I will have to get out there with a pick and scrape that red off.

Not yet Bob, I'm documenting everything but will wait until the chassis is almost done before starting a build thread. Most likely on LS1Tech, as AMC people are even more rabid about cross-breeding than Forders are!

Back to work. Between a couple of colds, a family illness taking me out of town twice, and bad weather, I finally have time to resume work on the car.

Converted my shorty headers to long-tubes today. Will run it as open headers until I get the rest of the exhaust hooked up.

But first I need to complete the cooling circuit on the transmission cooler, finish the plumbing for the fuel supplies, and hook up all my underhood wiring.

Started with the exhaust yesterday, then got sidetracked teaching my 13 year old nephew how to use the welder. Then got into the transmission cooler routing.

My welds are not very pretty on the exhaust, but they will perform their function. This one is especially ugly, because when I finally got the block-hugging angle on the down-pipe, there was a large triangle-shaped gap on that left side where it attaches to the shorty. I had to cut a 5"x1" triangular patch to weld over that gap, which you can see on the left side in the pic.

Also, REALLY liking how easy it is to get those header bolts in!!! :bouncy:

Well, guess I am done for the day. Need two more -AN fittings and another couple feet of braided stainless hose so I can finish my fuel.

Got the trans cooler hooked up.

Most important...cleaned up the garage and put all the tools back where they came from!

EDIT---Just called, and my hydraulic hose place is closed Saturday AND Sunday. And most likely on Monday, due to the holiday.

There goes the entire long weekend, shot!

And I am about an hour or two from having it running and back on the road!
