Yes, I think I will remove them, at least that removes a possible variable.

its common for the trans. mount to collapse and change the operating angles of the u-joints. the same can happen if the motor mounts are worn out.

ok thanks, I'll check all the mounts out too. So many things to do to get her working right, but all part of the fun.

it could be a u-joint unbalanced driveshaft or if the vibration is in the steering wheel it could be a front tire if its in the seat of your pants it could be a rear tire if you have someone rev the motor up and it jerks real bad to one side it could be a motor mount tranny mount could be a broken shock bad leaf spring bad idler arm or tie rod end

Also make sure it has the proper rear ujoint. My caps at the diff yoke were wrong.Too small. Its common on these cars. That and my trans mount got rid of my vibration.
I did the chalk and gear clamp thing at work once. ITs right in our Chrysler factory service info. It worked great but never again. Just too damn frightening crawling under a car on stands spinning that fast.

I duct tape a piece of chalk to a 2x2 stick and layed the stick on top of a jack stand to bridge the stick to make my mark. I didn't want to crawl under anything spinning fast either. I also didn't want my hand that close to a spinning driveshaft.
