I must say after I cut mine off I wasn't sure if I liked it. My original intension was to taper the rear edge of the rail by the vent window and I F it up so I cut them off. Now that the car is painted and setting next to Tammy's I'm glade I cut them off.

    I say CUT THEM OFF......thier gay :D

Here are some pictures of part of a drip rail cut away. As you can hopefully see....the drip rail is where the roof gets welded to the sides. If one cuts this away...then they have cut off where the two are joined. As has been stated...one needs to cut a little off....then weld it up....cut a little more off....weld....etc.

maybe it's a dumb question, anyway...if this mod is done, will water get in the car?

The seam you see in the pictures would be welded shut.

If the windows are rolled up, no way water can get in.

But....If your car is wet and you are driving around with the windows rolled down...when you turn the corner you will get a lap full of water. :D

That is a great looking mod, but WAY too difficult for me to perform with my minimal-moderate tools. I will just have to live with the lip...

What would the effect be by just painting the rails body color and leaving the chrome trim off? Certainly would be less obvious without the chrome trim. My paint guy wants an arm and a leg to do that mod. The side markers were easier for him to do.

I washed it yesterday and just as I thought the water drips to the glass. I'm still not sure what color it is :D
