How do you guys know it's a Maverick? Judgeing by the front end I think it's a Comet. Has anyone ever actually seen pictures of the tail panel to see what tail lights it has?

I've never seen pics of the rear, but in the side shots it clearly has the Maverick emblem on the fender and "Grabber" in the stripes.

I recently had a friend, who up to that point I thought was fairly knowledgable about cars, tell me he found an all original "Cobra" edition Maverick. I laughed it off, but he swore it was factory original, with all sorts of "Shelby" type stuff and stripes and everything, and he was tugging at my arm to go look at it.

Well, I drove the 30 miles to the place where the car sat for sale........it was a Cobra edition, and it was all factory original ..........

...and it was..... A Mustang II, not a Maverick.

My friend was sore for days from the slap upside the head I gave him for how closely he checked out the car yet missing the "Mustang" emblems on it!

But, this just goes to show how some of these endless "Shelby Maverick" rumors can get started.

Some people just amaze me...just yesterday as I was filling up my 74 LDO Mav at the gas station, a guy was admiring it and asked me if it was a Nova! Geez...at least read what the emblems say before you make yourself look like an idiot. I'm so used to it though, entering my Mavs in the car shows, you hear all kinds. I guess the funniest one so far was when a teen age boy asked me if my blue car was a Viper. They get this really dumbfounded look on their face when you say Maverick because they have obviously never even heard of one. I love every bit of it! :29:

Some yuppie "power walking" by our house the other day stopped, looked at my two Mavericks in the yard, and said "Hey, that's cool....don't see to many Vegas anymore!"

I replied "I know, I haven't seen one in years", then turned and walked away

Eh anything can be thought up or derived from myth but there are stranger than true have you ever seen a 61 a 62 or a 63 mustang? they existed so did a 65 mustang 2 dr. station wagon sure they were all 1 off cars from the plant but some of those cars did wind up escaping the scrapper heres some others a 54 chevy nomad with corvette nose and rearend, cadillac flower cars basically a cadillac el camino, or a mid engine (79? I believe) corvette (I saw that one in person in Iowa) or a front engine corvair or the turbin powered chrysler I looked at alot of car magazines as a kid my dad had several subscrips. not hot rod or mechanics ill. but the ones that test drove cars and showed all those y cars.
Kind of like those "special carborators" supposedly the factorys had to test cars. I'm not sure But I think I had one on a '71 Merc.Monty, tell me how many people could drive from Seattle to Montana border on 1 tank of gas, sure it could have been an add on but I've never seen another one like it since. The gas line straddled the exhaust manifold with a bigger tube around it,the butterflys weren't round in it,kind of oblong with 4 shafts in a double V formation not 2 straight shafts and the intake looked like the Nuculus duoble oval the bowls were round with a look more like spiraled tubbing and there was a fan in the air cleaner lid that plugged into the under hood light and a mesh filter on it going straight to the top of the radiator where the air had to go through a triangular pick up next to the rad. fan, being a dumb@$$ kid I never thought anything about it because my parents were chevrolet fans and that was the first fomoco I really looked under the hood of,my friends said it was really odd but I just figured it was a ford thing like how Mopars slant 6 leaned to the side kind of odd.

Not untill years later watching a movie about some guy inventing a carburator and ended up dissapearing over it did I really think about it,Like I say It could have been some garage inventors toy but it didn't look home made to me,so like I say anything is possible I sure wish I had that car today.
