My vinyl meets paint under a peice of metal stripping, if i take these off there will be little "pins" that the metal fastened too, would i have to cut them off, then go from there?

Relic your Mavericks trim and top looks like my Comets. Mine is a red car with a white top and trim. Yes there are metal pins that hold on the chrome. Have you found a replacement for the molding on the side of the car.

Mark, thanks for the picture of the interior. I hope to see it in person some day. Just curious, what color are you going to have the car repainted, since you just had the black vinyl top put on?

Relic, I don't know if I would take my top off, I like it with the blue and white combo!

    Dave,
I have not decided 100% on the color yet, but I have been leaning towards a darker, "warm" shade of yellow, almost orange but not quite. I like the look with the black top and the black Grabber stripes...but I also like a couple of shades of dark blue metallic too... :)

I think its totally dependent on the chracteristics of the car, most paint scheme 4 doors with the right vinyl color look sharp while most 2 door...particularly Gt and Grabbers dont look just right....although it looks good on MavMarks car...so I think its dependent on the car itself....jmho..:)

Thanks for the positive comments, guys...

I brought my car back to Michigan from Alabama because it was just about rust free...there were 2 exceptions: there was a hole inside the cowl and the entire roof under the factory vinyl top (which had deteriorated) was pitted and rusted badly. I worked on smoothing it out and filling the pits and pin holes with POR putty, but I finally decided to put a new top on rather than fool with it any more.

I am a little iffy on vinyl tops myself, but I am pleased with the look of the full black top that I got...the one I don't care for is the kind that relic has on his car(is that the "halo" top?). I think those look odd.

I also dug up a picture of the dash as it looks in this car, taken a couple months ago. It is not finished so it looks a bit ragged. It looks better than this today, but I am still working on parts of it :

As long as I am posting these...I found a picture of an '82 Tbird interior online and created this comparison photo It kinda looks like my dash is falling apart; this is because the top pad and the front pieces are just setting in there..I was testing the fit, etc:

Thats very unique!!!. I like the Maverick badge above the glove box door. Nice touch!

Damn...how did you see that?! :)

I was going to mention that emblem on there 'cause I didn't think anyone would be able to see it..

It is from one of the Maverick dash boards I've had over the years...
