I think the hardest thing is gonna be finding a NOS (or just nice) door panel emblem like that. I've never seen one. Anyone got one they want to part with $$ ?
Dan Hines' decals will work. I used one on a sport sterring wheel. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=32930&highlight=decals
his decals are 'brighter' than the door panel emblem. i was going to use one but drawed too much attention, so to speak. this way is more suttle, while retaining factory look and matching my door panels to boot but it also took alot of nerve to modify that emblem
I guess I have seen it, Its just that mine are faded and have no clear plastic. The decal would be ok, but the depth of the emblem is definately better. __________________
i also have 2 of the 'comfort weave' emblems that i thought about using but they wouldnt have matched anything (you know, the one's from '71 that have the weastern style background as i would call it)
Shiney is subjective. Mine is under the factory plastic dome and that seems to cut down on the boldness of the decal. I think the decals are a good alternative if you can't find good condition door emblems. Personally, If I could find good condition door emblems, I'd try to put them on some door panels. I don't think a decal under glass can get damaged or turn loose.
Terry, i do like your's. the plastic really does cut down the intensity. most that i have seen just simply stick them on them top of the horn button, and it doesnt look right. good job on your's......... but mine is better lol, j/k
I paid $25 for that factory sport wheel that had a Stallion emblem. I paid Dan $16 for a sheet of four decals. I sold the perfect condition stallion emblem for $12.50. I got a factory sport steering wheel, with horn button, and Maverick emblem for $28.50 and some elbow grease. How much did you pay for that Grant? Who's is better?
Get a decal and fix up one of those sport wheels. You'd be surprised what you could sell it for. I've turned down over $175 for mine two or three times from folks on this forum.
