Wondering how many different horn button inserts are out there. Ive seen the Ford blue oval, a GT, a Maverick steer head, and a Mercury emblem, any thing else out there I'm forgetting or not aware of.

Anyone know if the member that was recovering steering wheels on here is still doing them, or can recommend someone.

Are there any members or a company out there making the inserts.

I'm looking for an insert for my Comet GT, either a Mercury emblem, but prefer the GT. ydGmwMP.jpg

There is also a Stallion horse head from the Mustang II, which looks nice in the 76 Stallion.
Have not seen the GT for sale anywhere I can recall.

Never liked them. When you are working or just at the grocery store the button pops off.

Recovering a steering wheel isn't too hard if you think it through, do it carefully, and take your time at the work.

Rusty is still doing them. The steer head and GT inserts are custom ones. You can take a door emblem and put it in there. I have several of these wheels, you can get a wrap from “wheel skins” and they look decent for a good price.

Sounds like you need a new horn button. I have never had one pop off. They can sometimes be a pain to get off lol

No, I just put a factory wheel on it. Problem solved.

That works. FYI that is a factory ford steering wheel that isn’t a aftermarket one.

I guess I need to clarify then. My car has a factory Comet wheel on it. I even put a sport grip on it for color contrast.

The wheel posted is not factory for a Comet or Maverick.

They actually could come factory on stallions, but other than that you are correct. I have had a lot of issues with aftermarket ones. Only time I had an issue with factory sport grip ones is if the horn button broke. But the standard wheels are always a good option.

I was just about to post the same. I have the Stallion horn button but would like something more along the line of:

for the Comet. I have been trying to find some kind of Mercury emblem to put in the button but so far it is a fool's errand.
