    Hello all,

I have a 70 Maverick 250ci and whenever I try to start it I get a click and that's it. After it clicks, i turn it and get nothing but it takes a while before it will click again. I'm not sure the best way to proceed. I just got a new battery but it was doing that with the old battery too (it was leaking). Your help is greatly appreciated.

One click generally indicates starter solenoid is engaging but either isn't suppling voltage to starter, or starter is defective. Proper way to troubleshoot, check to see if there is voltage on starter post of solenoid when key is turned to start. Or you can fire the parts cannon and just replace solenoid. If that doesn't fix it, probably defective starter.
