We used a cutoff blade on a 5/8 arbor grinder.

I just went through this process. I was having the same problem, ended up taking a bottle jack and lifted the front of the leaf spring underneath where the bolt goes through. Lifting and lowering until the pressure was off and it slid right out. Good luck.

To be clear, my leaf spring is really loose and moving up and down in the eye freely. The bolt head inside the rail pocket rotates 360 when wrenched on (with some effort...doesn't move freely or loosely). Will cutting the bolt on either side of the eye leave the remainder of the bolt stuck within the frame rail or outer bracket?

@ Alaskamaverick....since my leaf spring is pivoting up and down freely, will the bottle jack method be effective, or is your scenerio based on a ceased leaf?

The way I worked mine. Jack rear of vehicle and place jack stands just forward of the forward leaf spring attach points. Put a floor jack underneath the rear pumpkin, just enough to support it. Remove shocks, brake lines, and rear leaf spring nuts & bolts. Lower jack underneath rear pumpkin and allow tires to touch ground, all weight on tires now. Place small floor jack or bottle jack underneath of front leaf spring at the attachment point. Remove nut from front leaf spring bolt. Raise and lower jack as necessary to remove pressure off of bolt. Push/pull/slide out. Good luck.

Does anybody know what the actual size of those front bolts are supposed to be ?

Did you have to cut them off? I cant remember what size of bolts I got to replace the old ones, I took an old one and matched it up at the hardware store. Grade 8 bolt.

Can you put the nut on a couple of threads and pry it?

Let me ask this. Is the bolt going in from the outside of the car towards the middle or from the middle of the car out? I will go look at mine in a minute..

I am thinking a torch would not be very useful in this area. The bolt is not really gonna get any heat.. Either need to get lucky prying and using penetrant or cut it..
