Stopped by Summit in Akron today for their scratch and dent sale. Some killer deals on a lot of stuff. Picked up a $280 MSD Mini Starter for $75 and an aluminum high flow water pump for $30.

If anyone is in the Akron area, this sale goes on throughout the weekend. Don't know if the Georgia and Nevada stores are also having the same sale.

The store here in Sparks has stuff out all the time. I have yet to ever find something that I can use.

So far I have scored a set of TFS 1.7:1 roller rockers, a March serpentine pulley system, a set of .030" KB 347 stroker pistons, the MSD Starter and two high volume aluminum water pumps. Saved 50%-90% off of catalog prices.

The only negative is that none of it can be returned for any reason!!

If I lived close to Summit and Jegs' stores I would stay even more broke than I do now!

I live less than 5 miles from Summit. I guess I'm a fast learner because it only took me 5 or 6 times to learn to leave the checkbook and credit card at home when going to Summit.

HaHa, sounds like a good idea!! I remember driving up to Columbus, Ohio to a Ford swap meet around Thanksgiving several years ago and we happened to drive by a Summit Racing store. We went inside and drooled over all the stuff we wanted!

I thought you lived around the Richmond, VA area? I wasn't aware there was any Summit Racing stores in VA.

I grew up in Akron and witnessed Summit grow from a small store to the megagiant it is now. There were actually two competing speed shops in Akron at the time, Midwest and Summit. Summit eventually swallowed Midwest and later, purchased Trick Flow Specialities in Wooster, Ohio from Mike and Rick Smith, both of whom I did business with in the 80's. Ron Robart worked for TFS and started his own business, Fox Lake Power Products, when Summit bought out the Smiths.

Interesting info!! I remember seeing some Midwest ads back in the day in some of my old car magazines. I didn't know that Summit owned TFS!
