Now the plans for it...I have stripped the interior and I'm planning on installing a 10 point cage and subframe connectors. It may seem like I'm jumping ahead too fast with the roll cage but I have to replace the rusty roof with a donor roof so I figured I may as well install the full roll cage while the roof is off. Not much rust on the floor pans. I also have a new B&M ratchet shifter to install, headers, and a mini-spool for the 3.40 gear pumpkin I got out of a Bobcat at the junkyard. I plan on using the 8-inch rear until it breaks. Next plans are for a 331 stroker n/a. Going to be trying for 400HP or so. Need to do alot of research on that. Also, plan on getting some Caltracs and slicks. After the engine is running strong and consistent, I plan on adding nitrous. The body also still needs a little work and a cheap paint job. I'm going to start a new thread called "Trying to build an 11-second Maverick"
when you go through tech, don't say anything about the mini spool. nhra rules require any car running with a locked rear end to have aftermarket axles. i called the div 7 tech inspector when i was running my 64 fairlane with the 8" and a mini spool . he said go race and have fun as it was basically a stock 302.
I Just Spent Alot Of Time Researching 331 Stroker ,thats What I'm Building Now, My Opinion? Run A Scat 9000 Crank 3.250 Stroke, Mahle Pistons They Only Weigh 423 Grams, They Come With 1.5mm Ring(lessfriction) And Wrist Pin That Does Not Get Into To The Oil Ring, With A 5.4 Rod 550 Grams Or Less, Of Course Run 28 Oz Rotating Assy. Unless You Can Afford 0 Balance, Get You A Good Set Of Heads & Find Someone That Knows What There Doing To Help You Clean Them Up. I Like To Keep My Piston About .030" Away From Head For Quench Purposes, anyway It Starts Gettin Detailed After That, Just Remember Less Weight/mass The Faster A Motor Can Accelerate & More Hp Can Be Made. Sorry So Long Winded Guy's!! If You Want To E-mail Me Erick I'll Share What I Know. 400 Hp Very Easy!!
