this is not the best launch its was the 1st one ,i have several other pics, but they wont load in here for some reason ......i have 1 with the wheels about a foot or more in the air
Ray, you know that car of yours will hook ..lol prolly in dirt ,it looks like its doing a 100mph in that pic ......thats a bad azz looking maverick you got...
on my maverick.. i had MSD pro billet distributor. MSD 6a box MSD Blaster SS coil MSD 8.8 wires. I ran 14.8 without MSD system. the next time i drove it at the track, with just changing the ignition system it ran a 14.2 it gained .5 second i had it at 36* at 3000 rpms, and i used 114 octane. (people tell me that race gas is not needed, but it ran much better with it, and more consistant.. so i used it).
heres some more pix, i never tried any more timing yet ...i was feeling like i had to much ,i was running e85 though....i think in the 1 pic it was 12 inches , at least i was told that...and in the pics, i was a car lenth out so might have been higher earlier.....
the E85 should be no difference according to everything I have read. As far as timing goes, its trial and error, each car has its own liking. Mine (for example) ran best at 38* locked out on 110 octane. thats where T&T comes in, you need to test different timing's, study your time sheets well (60 ft. 1/2 track, mph etc.) and see how she reacts to what you have done. Something else to remember is you as a driver need to do your job the same way every time, burnouts, staging, launch RPM, if not done the same (when you are dialing in the car) can give you bad feedback. When you are playing with timing, change nothing else while doing this, if you want true feedback, you must do everything else the same. Tire pressure, burnouts, staging, launch RPM's. The nite I went just to T&T, I had a notebook, pen and stapler. Writing down the cars set-up before every pass and stapling the timeslip afterwards. Our track has a small weather station at the starting line which also helped. Notes, study, trial and error and more studying. You can get results if you put the effort into it. When I was racing full time; I had 17 passes in a row where I went 6.552 to 6.558. Thats from doing homework and driving consistantly. Last bit of advice: dial in the driver first, then the car.
So true and very good advice ,bad thing is my track closed, i got there very last nite of racing ,only got 2 passes and had to race ,so i left most everything alone for race day .....but next spring ill be there for tt alot ..... was the 1.56 60 ft good ,it ran between 1.56 and 1.58 all nite...JAY
