BTW, i just looked at headers from Summit and even the 6901 Hooker's are listed for 69-73 Cougars so i doubt that the application is right. ive heard of people having a heck of a time getting the 6901's to work with a 351 in a mav i did find that the hedman 88660 headers fit a wide variety of app's with a 351 swap, such as: 64-73 mustang, 66-73 ranchero, 68-73 torino.....
i agree. ive run them on 3 different cars and they're VERY tight with the 302, i couldnt imagine them with a 351
that might be true ,i bought mine used ,they fit great ,thats all i know the guy said they were for a 351w 70 cougar
well i added a rev maxx conv and rebuilt the trans.,seems like the new conv. feels alot better in the driveway ,we race in 2 weeks from today, were kinda woried it might go under the index ,its 7.50s ,we did get the maverick in the 7.50s last weekend we ran it it went a 58 ,with the new conv. it might go under 50 ,or might go slower we will keep you informed ,rev maxx gave us the conv. to try out and give feed back on,they said they can custom build it for any car ,for under 300 bucks ,so we will see they said we will pick up a .10 in the 1/8th with it over the old 1 ,we sent it to them it was distroyed ,last time out .....watch for up dates ,also we got the interior in that we bought from raymond ....
if your looking for high 11s to low 12s ,you will like my build,it gets 13 mpg on e85 also thats about 16 mpg on gas ,we havent really ran it hard either because of the index ,it runs as fast as we want, so you might be able to run alittle better than us ,keep me informed on yours also, id like to know how it runs ,we can trade tune ups ....jay
cool. I am building mine a little at a time. I am hoping to have it finsihed around this time next year maybe sooner. I should have a short block together pretty soon then I will save for heads and other stuff
what carb are you running I have a 750 holly with 67jets in front and 76 jets in rear. 308 flat top pistions with 185 afr heads victor jr intake 3500stall converter with 4.11 in rear. I wanted to get my maverick in mid 11's but have been having trouble best time was a 12.45 with it loosing fuel on the launce from lifting the wheels a tab bit. put rear jet extenders in it and bigger jets 69/78 jetting in my carb. Any advise???
Ran the maverick tonight , my son won highschool ,went out on 2nd round of sportsman,i messed up ,on that not him ,we went to the garage to get a gas can ,i seen 1 with some gas in it ,so i added some more to it and we got low after the final of highschool, so i added the fuel , the car slowed down 3 tenths, wow ,well i must have got some bad gas ,i dont know what was in that gas it must have had water in it or something,...live and learn , never use gas that isnt fresh in the racecar ....WE RAN IT WITH THE 4 BBL UNHOOKED ,SO IT WOULD HOOK ,WE HAD TO RUN STREET TIRES ON IT, WE HAVE IT SETUP FOR 9 INCH SLICKS,IT RAN 7.75 1/8TH MILE , SLICKS GO BACK ON IT NEXT WEEK ,NO HIGHSCHOOL CLASS RUNNING THEN,BUT WE WONT BE ABLE TO HOOK UP 4 BBL THOUGH ,WE PUT A NEW CONV. IN IT THIS YEAR AND IT RUNS UNDER THE 7.50 INDEX, WE PICKED ABOUT A TENTH OR TWO WITH THE NEW CONV., LAST YEAR WE RAN LOW 7.60S ,THIS YEAR IT RUNS LOW 7.40S, WE WERE PULLING MID 1.60S 60 FT TIMES ON STREET TIRES AND 2 BBL
