Whether he recommends it or not... I would fill the block.
It can't hurt it, makes it stronger. and you get a lot longer life out of it if its just a dragcar.
As Old Guy has said... it has less distortion and such
I am considering filling my block when it needs bored. Its a standard block, so I dont want to have to fill it and then possibly have to bore it back to standard or bigger.

I read that article in M&F,,,, has me drooling,, for now it is the plan for the 71. But, I am learning all kinds of new stuff here. I just dont mess with motors enough to profess any intelligence on um. One thing I know, if you got a question here,, you are going to get an answer.

Get the January issue of Popular Hot Rodding and read about a 351 stroked to a 410, putting out 647 HP and on pump gas. Speed-o-Motive is doing the build, so it will be doable for the serious hobbyist.(y)

Well I got my air compressor and tools, the head bolts broke loose at 150 psi with a half inch impact wrench...main caps at 130, all the pistons are out but 2, got some cleaning up to do on the cylinder walls and they should fall out.
The crank on this thing is huge, with any luck I'll have the block at the machine shop Friday.

How sweet it is! Don't you just love the room without those pesky shock towers. With the gear change she should really rip the concrete. If by chance you would put a good c4 in it, by damn, just mash the gas and close your eyes, cause she's a gonna want to get airborne. Some nice 6's are in my crystal ball for you. Good luck as always.

OK all you Drag gurus, help me analize this. I see Redmaverick ran a 10.54 @115. I've run a 13.08 @108. Only 7 mph slower yet 2 1/2 seconds slower. I see John ran 10.45 @ 128. That makes his 13 mph faster but only .09 seconds faster. What is this telling me?

It's all part of vast conspiracy, propogated by the SFPCA and PETA to thoroughly confuse you beyond emotional stability to the point where you will want lots of cats around you.:D

Dennis, if it makes you feel any better i'm confused too because mine went a 7.05 in the 1/8th @ I think it was 97 mph and then went 11.1 @ 120 in the 1/4 (on motor) That was at the roundup which was the cars first 1/4 mile pass ever....

er...block is at the machine shop..it will be vatted and magnafluxed tomorrow. If it checks out ok next step is to order the stroker kit. I don't know if its common practice but he wont bore it without the pistons. Makes sense I guess.
