Very impressive. The front tube is so tight to the a-pillar that you can hardly tell the car has a cage from the side.
when the glass goes in, i expect most of what can be seen now to be covered up. i think im going to tint the back windows. my aluminum dash will need allot of reworking to fit but its worth it.
Looks very race car'ish. I dont see much interior going back in that thing. Probably alot of sheet metal for the rear side panels and trunk barrier.
About the only thing that would deter me from doing front bars on a cage in my car would be the fact I love my factory dash and I wouldn't do anything to cut it up.
my interior should be pretty close to what my old cars was. the custom dash from the old car almost fits the new cage. it just needs some triming on the end caps, new filler panels made, and the cross bar put in with the dzus tabs to hold it down. i plan on cutting the rear side panels to clear around the cage. ill have a new rear fire wall made similar to what my old car had im debating about aluminum door panels. i cant have the arm rests with the door bars so the stock door panels dont look good. i think ill make aluminum panels and paint them black so they will match the dash.
That's going to be very cool! Can't wait to see it! It's like a good T.V. series, each update is like an episode and the series finally should be AWESOME!!! We just need a few zombies running around and I think we would be golden!
ive started on notching my shock towers. i first drilled two holes from the control arm side right above the upper control arm bushings. i then took the plasma cutter and cut the face of the shock tower out. i then measured how far back i can go before i hit the spring. i came up with 3.25". i then measured 3" back from the inner face at the bottom cut and marked it. i then cut up the front and back sides of the tower with a cut off disk on a grinder. i realized that i can push the curved section into the tower. this way i can maintain the stock curved shape of the shock tower. right now i have 1" more clearance. i will cut the shock tower further back to get another 1". its should come out very nice when i get it all done.
If you were thinking about doing the Shelby Drop, you could do that now, and gain a little space around the upper A-arm. I don't know your engine plans, but on a Windsor-based motor, the exhaust ports and the upper A-arm in the stock location battle for the same space. The work you have done so far looks good. I like that you are keeping the curves. Mine are cut straight, and it is very apparent when you look at it. This will be a lot more subtle.
im going to cut another pie wedge out of the sides of the tower that is an inch wide on the bottom. im still not sure if im going to do the shelby drop. i probably will but their has been discussion claiming that the shelby drop was put into these cars stock. i need to ask about this.
I'm definitely no authority but I have never heard about the drop on the mavericks already done at the factory. Very interesting. I'm curious what you will uncover.
