i have purchased Mashoris 71 maverick. this car is really built up and im sure a lot of people are very familiar with this car from when mo was posting about it. ill start with the car as i have received it from Mo. ill start from the front and work my way to the back. a billet grill a custom aluminum air dam an aluminum radiator a taurus fan a 331 motor fox mustang serpentine drive 3g alternator afr 185 heads roller rocker arms rocker arm girdles fms aluminium valve covers edelbrock rpm air gap intake tfs stage 2 roller cam. moroso t sump oil pan hooker headers msd programable 6al-2 msd blaster coil holley 650 hp carb k&n 3 air filter varishock 2 way coil over conversion aluminum fly wheel dual friction king cobra clutch g force t5 close ratio transmission pro 5.0 shifter cnc hydraulic master and slave cylinder set up ford high torque starter 3" flow tech x pipe with cut outs going to 2.5" magnaflow mufflers with tail pipes. aluminum drive shaft ford 9" nodular case, daytona pinion support, billet yoke, 4.10 gears, 31 spline tracloc lsd, 31 spline axles, will wood disk brakes. varishock 2 way shocks mustang fuel tank modified with a internal hinged door sump, -10 feed and -8 return. holley hp 125 fuel pump center line 17" wheels with nitto tires. interior 8 point roll cage with swing out door bars and drivers side window net autopower 5 point camlock harness corbeau seats custom dash full of autometer gauges aluminum rear fire wall fire suppression system nos bottle and billet aluminum mounts rattle trap sound deading thats about every thing that i can think of that is installed in the car. it also includes to be installed total control upper and lower control arms mega squirt 3 computer and harness acufab 90mm throttle body 55lb fuel injectors edis dis system vortec t trim supercharger. so my plan is install the above parts and some parts that i have which are maverickman carbon fiber cowl hood aerocatch flush hood pins willwood front disk brakes up date the under dash hydraulic clutch to my current design of a firewall mounted mastercylinder. k&n extreem lid ford slant top valve covers. the engine compartment is really dirty. i will clean and detail it so i can look at it and not cringe. ive been a drag racer for ever but due mostly to the dragstrips closing im going to try autocrossing. the local autocross is only a few miles away so its very convenient to go to. good guys comes and has an autocross that i will enter also. i do plan on taking the car to silver state classic also. my goal is reach the grand sport class where i can run a top speed of 160 mph. i also will look into going to some standing mile races and ive been seeing the texas roll racing and may look into that some day. so hears some pics of the car. so thats where its at right now. ill be adding up dates with pics and vids of the build up and events i take the car to.
so the first thing i did was switch the under dash clutch master cylinder to a fire wall mount. the under dash didnt have enough travel and was highly prone to trapping air and getting spongy. this is a clutch pedal that i made, with some angle wedges for the master cylinder mount that i had machined. i didnt get any before pics but here are the after pics. so i was using a 7/8s bore master cylinder with this kit and with the firewall mount i dont have the same mechanical advantage with the pedal ratio so im going to switch it out with a 3/4 master that i have for the comrick. this will get me back to the proper clutch to pedal travel with easy effort. it felt really good working on "my!" car and being able to drive it right away.
i personalty do really like the spoiler and thats all that matters. the spoiler was necessary for the running in silver state classic challenge (sscc). the first time mo ran is the sscc, he was encountering a floating front end feeling and the hood flapping really bad at any speed above 115 mph. i had a design idea in my head for this spoiler and had it made. the results at the next sscc were huge. he was able to go 140 mph (the max allowed for his class) and the front end felt planted firmly and the hood would actually suck down at 50 mph and above. i do have an idea for a side skirt that will tie into the shape of the front spoiler and is designed to increase the down force even more and potentially reduce drag. i also plan on doing a rear diffuser and a rear spoiler. Hopefully maverickman will have his carbonfiber trunk lid/spoiler done when im ready to do this. this car is more about function than form but form does get considerable attention. i dont like the shelby mustang spoilers. they point forward to much in my opinion. the spoilers by randy are nice, especially the pro touring one, but i dont like the under car cut off of them. i was inspired by the 70s trans am fire birds for my design. it drops a lot of the drag from the tires and wheels. the other option was a spliter like on the spector maverick. i hate the look of spliters on classic muscle cars. they just dont look good at all to me. i do have the cad design for my air dam and am able have it reproduced. i may consider building a batch of them for sale some day.
Im mean not to be disrespectfull. But really the spoiler does grow me, and has really good performance.
no disrespect taken. i encourage all to do what they want to their car to make it there own. so next up is to install the front control arms and wilwood disk brakes. also the corbaeu seats have my 6"2' self sitting pretty high up in the car. i think ill swap in my kirky pro street seat.
the comrick will be finished. it just will be bumped back a little bit. im going to finish putting the maverick together with the extra parts then finish the paint and body of the comrick. at that point i will see what combo of parts i want in each car.
Not a thing wrong with your spoiler but I would paint it the color of your hood or strips… Just my take on it…
ya ive been thinking about the color of it. i feel if it was blue it wouldnt look right. i never like when cars have spoilers, and or skirts painted a body accent color. so ive thought about black and i just cant see it being black. white could work. i am thinking of painting the carbon fiber hood white with blue candy stripes so it would have the carbon fiber look in the stripes. but all this is cosmetic stuff that costs money and thats last on my list of priorities on this car.
i did some clean up work in the engine compartment today. i installed some new valve covers ive had for a while. i repainted the shock tower braces. i put wire loom on the wiring. i swapped out the plug wires for some quality ones, and swapped the air cleaner lid. heres some pics.
