What transmission fluid are you going to put back in it ? Type F or Dextron, Mercon or ? Synthetic or regular. When I had my transmission rebuilt by PaulS the local transmission guru that use to be on this site all the time ask me what I wanted to use for transmission fluid and I ask him which he recommended and he prefers Type F and he told me that it makes a difference in what clutches he puts in.

I dont know the ramifications of using other than the Type F for my application so it has always made me wonder

You're supposed to use the fluid type that's compatible with the clutch material. The C-4 originally used Type-F. Modern transmissions use Dexron or something else. If your builder uses modern clutch materials that call for Dexron, that is what should be used.

After some research I have found that Type F would be okay to use even if the friction material was the type that prefers Dexron or Mercon.

Search features are a wonderful thing I dont know how we survived before computers. Now onto episode 29 satchelmcqueen
