Throttle cable

    i need to replace the throttle cable on my 71 maverick what is the best way to go?

    I modified a LoKar cable to make it fit my Comet. If you can get an OEM style cable that will fit, do it! Far less work.

    Be aware that 70-72 is one style .... easiest way to tell is there is only one screw in the bracket that bolts to the firewall. 1973- up is an improved design, but the throttle pedal is different, because of the way the cable connects to it. That one uses two screws at the firewall. A lot of the early ones break where they attach to the pedal.

    That's what happened to mine. I found one today but it was the later style in bad shape. I think I might modify a 1985 mustang cable.

    lokar offers one thats REALLY easy to install I paid like $30 for mine at a local speed shop
