Also, put some RTV on all gaskets. As water ist the culprit, and not engine oil, I only put a light coat around the water passages. Has yet to fail me. Water getting to the bolts is the main reason the rust inside the block...

Thanks, appreciate all advice/suggestions. I been watching several You Tube videos where some RTV entire mount surface, others the water passages. I have pretty much decided doing light coat around all mount surfaces. Better safe than sorry!

I was trying figure out how to install crank seal w/o damage as I don't have special tools. Looking on my basement workbench found an unlikely solution. I put seal in freezer and heated cover on stove top --- used what I had. Worked great -- sometime you have to get creative.

Should I paint my alum. water pump or leave natural?

Took your advice, painted the water pump Eastwood grey argent wheel paint, break up some of the blue.
Making progress, only work about 3 hrs max, don't have your stamina. Hope to finish installation this week and get back on road.
What's your suggestion on bolts going into water passages -- thread sealant or anti-seize.
All advice from anyone on this question taken into account....

    Everett:
I use thread sealant on the bolts going into the water passages, think there are 4, all others I use anti-seize or you can just use thread sealant on all bolts, also acts like anti-seize, looking good!

Yes, Flow Kooler! Just about got everything hooked up, plan to hopefully start car tommorrow and hope no leaks. Car show/cruise season short in this part of country, need to get car back on the ground. Ran into a little hitch today w/ power steering high pressure connection at Saginaw pump. I know the problem, changed restrictor fitting and had a leak that should have been obvious. If you close the left restrictor, obvious why I'm getting leak - hose was loose and jam nut was tight and could shake hose.
Went w/ Flow Kooler to see if it will do a little better job cooling w/ AC operational.
