Well its been awhile since I've updated, but the cowl repair is done. I done it the lazy mans way, I took the brace off and cut the side out where the drain is, so no taking the windshield out and drilling spot welds out. I used POR15 and fiberglass to fill the millions of pinholes that had accumulated in the sheet metal, and for larger ones in the top hats used patches. It was a pretty fast and simple fix. Two days, and most of it was cutting the cowl. I just finished laying seam sealer and paint down on it and its pretty slick. I'm just PRAYING the cowl is water proof, as I haven't been able to do a water leak test yet. I laid a pretty thick layer of POR over every inch of cowl I could reach, so maybe, JUST MAYBE, its water proof. If it isn't, then I have a sledge hammer ready.
Cowl Delete Hey RDog : Read your post about the cowl leakage problem. I have performed the Cowl Vent Removal on SIX cars in the past 12 years and they're all holding up fine..No problem with the ventilation..ACs work fine . Its not as difficult as you might imagine . Here they are 71gold. I didn't get any pictures of the actual rust holes.. I'm not too sure how the fiberglass and POR15 mixture instead of resin is going to turn out, I read it works real good, so I tried it. If I were to do it again, I would cut the whole cowl out and just weld it back in. The way I done it was okay, but hard to get your hands in to work.
