But I have my fan relay sensor in front of the t-stat, so it will get a full flow of fresh water all the time. The temp gauge may fluctuate, but that is OK, as long as my fan comes on and off when it should. And, since it is 175-190 activated, and the t-stat is 160, the t-stat will open long before the 190 sensor is activated. Should be no problems...
I may be mistaken but I beleive you want to know the temp and control the fan based on the temp in the radiator or right in front of the t stat... when the coolant in the radiator is "hot" you want the fan to kick on...the t stat will do it's thing.
What you talkin' bout Willis, er, Blu? If the system opens up the way it is supposed to, it should all happen automatically. Having most of it in front of the T-stat just makes it happen sooner. If after the T-stat, it would still happen in time, just maybe 30 seconds later, after the T-stat opened up and let that hot water start a-flowin'! Remember, this is a 160 T-stat. It will open up really soon compared to most and start to do it's job early.
Ok... I know that the origional temp switch for the dummy light is in the manifold and when the light comes on, it's too late. I blew a head gasket before the light came on once. But I also think it was my dads fault for running it without a t stat, un be knowst to me . I am going to put my temp gage sensor in that spot and use a fan switch in my t stat housing... http://mmb.maverick.to/attachment.php?attachmentid=19306&d=1169313515
Blu, Really? if you want it you can have it. PM me your address. And sorry to confuse you up there. I was just being a $marta$$ in the first sentence where I addressed you, then went on to continue arguing my opinion, and forgot to get around to arguing against your point. I figure that it doesn't take all that long for water in the radiator, block, manifold, or wherever to eventually get past that sensor, especially since my stat opens pretty early and likely stays open the duration of my drive. Not so long that the water will get dangerously hot without my knowing. but, I am just arguing for argument sake, and could be completely wrong. At this time, I cannot find any place in front of my fan (ie. in the radiator) where I want to be drilling and tapping for a temp sensor bung...
Okay,,, I would put the gauge in the manifold an fan in t-stat housing. If thermostat sticks, that fan can run all it wants an engine will still cook.
Got it today Scott, Thanks I hope it works out for me. I plan on polishing it and installing a temp something into it. Pretty soon I will HAVE TO start on that grill, just for you . I was actually looking at it last night (cause it was in my way on the work bench lol) and was wondering if you need the light fixture openings in it or do I delete them, which may be easier... I also noticed how the grades slant in towards the bottom, is that a set spot or can I come out flush with the face?
I don't need the light holes. My lights mount under the bumpers. Now that you mention it, if you took a grinder and smoothed out that pipe thing I sent you, it wouldn't be as ugly as it was. When you do that grill, better keep the plans around because I bet a bunch of guys will quickly want one afterwards.
Based on what i've been reading here, I probobly shouldn't be making ANYTHING cause I could be sued...... oh well, start the paper work and hire your attny cause I don't give a shishna!
Hey blu, hows the weather up there? Down here it is cold and rainy. Great time to close the garage door, put on some heat, and work on the car...
You got someone watching my shop? I just came in from there and YES... IT"S COLD. It's rainy and sleeting. I was hoping for some cry cold spells, but not my luck.
