something is wrong, c4 should shift from 1 to 2 at about 45 with no vacuum, maybe the modulator valve is stuck which is under the modulator, or the pin that goes in between the two could be missing

Ok, I had a discussion about this with someone tonight and we took measurements. Clearly, the shaft on the yoke out of my grabber is much longer. Yours looks like the pic he posted -- a hair under 5 inches to the weight on the yoke. The shaft on my yoke is right at 7" long, maybe knock a little off for the ridge around the base. There's close to two inches inside the yoke before the splines start.

I don't know much about the later year yokes .. obviously they are much shorter ... According to the chart I posted the total length of the early yokes were 8 3/32 inches ...

    Ya'll Rock!! Thanks

ya'll on the forum, myself, my dad, and all the guys at the shop agreed, I need a longer driveshaft. so I had it done.:yup:

new drive shaft was made 7/8" longer than old one. this will put me right were the stock setup was!! cost $75.

as for trannys and vacuum, ya echoed my own thoughts on the matter.

thankyou very much for the input. all advice/opinions are still most welcome.

    thanx again
