    you said motor came from a 91 model car .. was it a manual tranny behind it? did you leave the pilot bearing in end of crankshaft? it has to be removed for a auto to work properly.
    just a thought ..hope you get it figured out.

    problem solved. compared higher stall converters,one from summitracing and another from a local trans shop, and both were 1/4 inch longer than a stock one.I had the converter shop use a stock housing and up the stall to around 2500. converer fit like a glove and trans is in.thanks for all the help
