trim or no trim???

    Take off the trim. I did it on my '74 and I'm much happier.

    Maverick - no trim, Comet - trim

    Personally I love chrome and polished metal... I have been examining my car every night - mine is original "bright red" which looks almost orange... and it has gray stripes which look like crap up against the metal... there's poor contrast.

    If you have a dark colour in mind, I'd leave the trim for the contrast, if you're painting it a light colour, blacking it out usually adds nice contrast and cleans up the lines of these cars.

    Also - personal preference - the Maverick side trim over the wheels messes up the lines of the car... the Comet's didn't do that fortunately. I'd definitely remove that... makes it look like "Grampas car".

    Actually it looks like this thread was brought back from a rest twice.

    It rested for 1 1/2 years then over 2 years.

    I suppose a lot of people have opinions on trim floating around in their minds they feel they must express. (I know I did)

    i agree. i think the all the trim takes away from the design and the body lines. DITCH them :agreed:
