whether the turbo would match the engine or not, might not be big enough but the rpm range it covered would show one helluva torque increase if he could keep it from pinging.
I found a 75 comet, with a 4.1 strait 6 for $200 but i've got to get a title for it,..salvage title probabily..for now, but the bodys in better condition than mine, and the inside, looks showroom new......i'll try to put the turbo on that,..when i get it....$$ dont grow on trees,...thats alot of pizza for my maverick to deliver before i can get her a lil' sister.
Not to be a killjoy, but on your budget, I don't think chasing fabricated turbo projects is realistic. If you really want to know everything about turbos, buy the book Maximum Boost, published by Bentley Publishers. It's the best book out there at this time.
killjoy! no your probably right, but im hard headed, and that *&^% turbo is going to go on something,... one good thing about west virginia no shortage of cheap cars
I deal with turbos almost every day on diesel equipment. I also don't mean to be a killjoy but even if you could put one on for a reasonable price. there is much more to a turbo than just installing it. As stated you have to have an oil supply feeding it. you also have to have a drain back to the oil pan. You cant start them up and just take off driving. you have to let them idle down for a few minutes before shutting down. If it comes apart it can ruin your engine. So if you don't have a big bank account please dont try it.
Hey mavman, you still got those headers? I'd like to get them off your hands. YOu have any pics of them?
