I can get a nice new plug for the end of the harness from Scott Drake but who sells the steel pins that crimp on the wires and lock into the plug
Ahh good thing you found it I was going to suggest shee-mar they bought out allot of fords old tooling and they are one of the few companies that make ford licensed factory style switches http://www.shee-mar.com/
Thanks for the link....I bookmarked it. I didn't have time to look....do they have turn signal switches for our cars?
I sent a few emails out to the Mustang parts houses to see if these harness pins are available. Dallas Mustang said they didn't but offered a sample to see if I could match it up at Granger. I'm still waiting for an answer from CJ Pony Parts and Shee-mar
This is the page from their catalog! I guess the hard part is trying to figure out what size is needed! http://www.alliedelec.com/catalog/pf.aspx?FN=207.pdf
Is that a picture of the actual pin needed? What happened is my Stang column doesn't have enough clearence for the plastic plug to safely make it's way through the housings and out the top when removing the harness. I damaged the Stang plug on the way out. This harness came to me with the wires in bad shape anyway so I trimmed back the wires past the original bad spots. In the end, I can now reuse the Stang harness if I can get these pins and purchase a new plug end. I can also use my intact 69.5 Maverick harness but it's plug might get damaged going back in the column. So the pins and new plug seems to be the answer - install the harness with new pins and without the plug - then install the new plug after the install.
The pins will pull out of the plug without damage, just takes the correct tool. The one I have came from oreilly's, a little green hex-shaped tool, with different pins and picks around the perimeter.
I have one of those release tools from the days when I wired utility trucks for Altec - another finding it problem If I can get the Maverick plug apart, I would be able to see those pins and try to match them up somewhere. I still need a set of new pins to repair the Mustang harness
Yes they do I have a shee-mar assembly in my car right now, I got one for my car for about $80, all the NOS ones I have found were in the $150 range. I had to get a new assembly because the pins on mine were worn out and my drivers side turn signal no longer worked. But then again I have the oddball two year only 71-72 assembly if I had one of the earlier or one of the later ones then it would have been cheaper for me.
