There total function is to deaden down the sound coming from the engine. Generally speaking, higher class cars had them as did optional sound deadening packages. I would think on a Mav it would get pressed down onto the air cleaner as there is little room there to begin with.
Here is a universal pad on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/UNIV...tegoryZ34202QQihZ013QQitemZ230058843208QQrdZ1
I know someone that will repo them, he needs a pattern...he has other Maverick repo stuff on ebay..Freddie told me if someone got a pattern or got him a pad he could get them to us for $31.00 plus shipping???
I'd be interested in trying one out for that price, but I don't have one for a pattern. Otherwise, I will probably just get one of the universal kits. I only have one of the five that I want to put one on, mainly just for "correctness" since it deserves it.
Personally, I think those pads just hold dust and crap. I would just as well like to pressure spray under the hood and knock off any dust, dirt, or wasps nests... :evilsmile
Under hood pads are very common on Cougars. I own three of those guys. Same problem, no exact replacement. Meaning reproductions are not molded, you get a flat piece of insulation that you use either your own used clips or reproduction clips to reattach to the underside of your hood. It does come cut to the more or less correct pattern as the original. They are also the wrong color.
I would have to agree here. It might be the correct size and shape....but it will not be molded and have the correct contours as original.
Same here... I've seen several hoods with the plastic tabs and shreds of the pad left. I think it was some sort of stand alone option, because I have seen cars with and without A/C with them, and none of them were LDO.
