    Looks like my 75... :(
Solid everywhere but what was under vinyl.
Needless to say, I am anti-vinyl nowadays.
I have a Comet roof waiting patiently for me to continue work on the 75.

I am glad I got my vinyl off before it looked like that...Luckily, my car had been garage kept since 1973...

Definitely...no way I'd try to repair that. You have to wonder just how much more rust is in there. And it's gonna come back if you patch it up!
It's not that hard to put an entire roof on. A good body man can cut off the old roof, fit and weld the donor roof back on in one day. You'll never repair all the rust in that roof in one day...probably not in one week working 8 hours a day on it. Shouldn't be that hard to find a donor roof for much of nothing. Lots of parts cars on this board.

I have a '76 with a good roof not doing anything if someone wanted to come cut it off (even has the lead already melted out of the front seams). I'm cutting the floor and front end out to repair a certain Grabber... The roof did have a halo vinyl top originally, so the holes would have to be filled from the trim.

That is not an easy project to undertake. If you do a search on here, you will find a few threads where Mavaholic was working on one a few years ago using parts from an old Mustang. It's alot of work.

Thanks, I might have to take you up on it. I have another 72 grabber that I got for $200 bucks...no title no bumpers or fenders but had the grill and spoiler, good floors and battery area, so I might just gut it, or I have a 72 that was hit in the rear and bent the passenger frame rail. Hollar at me befor you crush it, It will be a while before I can get to it though. Just starting the process of building a new garage:dance:.....going to be on a 50x50 foot pad with 30x50 enclosed.
just got the survey done and waiting for all the paperwork to pass through all the people who have to sign it at the county. having to combine my 2 lots to have enough space.

This repair will be way over my head....need our Foose Ward on this one:rolleyes:.

I have a hole about the size of a semi deflated basketball right over the passenger's head. The head liner isout and you get covered by little droplets of rrust every time I hit a little bump. I think a new roof is in my near future. Which brings up my question... will the front 36 inches of a 4 door roof fit on, more or less, a 2 door car. I was thinking aboutdoing the replacement under the crome strips to save on doing the body work over the welds.

You will spend way more time trying to get all of the warpage out of the top from welding than if you would have just put the complete top on in the 1st place. Please don't even think about trying that. :(

It's not going anywhere. When and if you decide you want it, just let me know.

Ok, I got this out of the mitchel repair guide If the picture is correct then the roof should come off near the top...but then again nothing is ever as easy as it seems. anybody that has had to replace their roof want to shed some light on the subject.

Next I have to decide which direction to take, At the MCG meet there was a maverick that had the vinyl top removed but left the halo trim and painted the top white. I kinda liked the way it was done. I currently can do it either way, I have both types of roofs. Guess its going to be a long winter.
