Those rear brackets are the same as the 67 Mustang ones. You can buy them at any Mustang house. Beats cutting them out of another car.
That's what I was going to tell him. I butchered the heck out the ones in the donor car trying to get them out before I knew that. Seth
Yeah I took Mavaholic's advice on those and purchased from a mustang house. That is the kind of stuff I learn here that saves me time and frustration. Thanks Dan
New rims and tires, Wheels are 17x7 and 17x8 torq thrusts with 4" backspacing. Tires are Dunlop, fronts 215/45/17 rears235/45/17. I am going to lower the car all the way around.
Dan If you find a Park brake cable that will mount to your brakes you can connect it to the mavs park brake cable using a line crimp tool and connectors ... You cant get the tool at any parts store like Northern tool and equipt. Are you using a lincoln rear end ? If so i think i can get you the park brake cable off of a versailles (If its still there ) All you have to do is cut the cable to length and crimp it to the mavs park brake cable ....
Got a 9" out of a 64 t-bird, but that is all I am using. Am going with Explorer disc setup. The rest of the rearend will consist of Strange hardware and Caltracs. Thanks for the info on the park brake. I will think in those terms to get it together. Dan
Bringing this thread back from the dead ... Dan ... do you still have that picture of your notched stone guard? I would like to see it ... Dan and Dennis - As far as the rear bumper supports go ... I notice in my 71 that the supports are lined up perfectly with the frame and the two holes in the trunk floor that are covered with the rubber dust caps. When you did the conversion on your 76 and 77 didn't they line up the same? I just wondering if I can just weld in the support brackets and then just drill through the rear panel using the support bracket holes as a guide. THanks ... Dan
Here ya go Dan,, as far as the rear bumper supports. I actually mocked mine up, then marked to drill holes thru the tailight panel. Then I even bolted everything on without the support brackets. In the end, I had to even drill out the support brackets a little. So in my case, no, I would not rely on that to give you a clear route. I might add that my car was hit hard in the right rear corner, so it might have had an influence on how mine went together.
Dan, that notch in the stonegaurd is tight, couldnt fit a cats whisker between the fender and the stonegaurd. Mine is black and you really dont see it. Dan
