most likely the intake gasket is not sealing on that side of the motor. the intake is self is a dual plane if i remember correctly. that means that one bbl of the carb feeds two cylinders on each side of the motor.
so the fact that one side has a problem and the other doenst indicates a problem with the intake gasket or the cylinder head it self.
the first thing i would try is re-torquing the intake manifold in the proper sequence. now when you do this you need to keep going around the sequence till every bolt wont turn any more when you put the torque wrench on it. i find it usually takes at least 5 times before this is achieved. a lot of people will just do it once and think they are done. when in fact only the last couple bolts are tight. most of the bolts that were done first will be loose because the last bolts have compressed the intake gaskets and taken the load of the rest.

if re-torquing the intake does not fix this then i would pull the inake and inspect the gaskets to see if there is any areas that didnt get compressed. compare the intake ports on the heads to see if they look the same on both sides.

you could try readjusting the valves. they may be a little tight on the problem side. i kind of doubt it but its a free thing to do. may do that before you pull the intake if your at that point.

Started looking into where all my bolts are on my intake and how hard they are going to be to get to, and apparantly those jackasses missed at least one of the bolts. I don't mean missed as in it wasn't tightened, I mean missed as in it wasn't in the intake at all. I'm going to look again over the weekend and see what I find. Maybe more missing bolts. So, what kind of bolts are used to keep the intake on?

5/16 course thread take another to match it up

Please put some new intake gaskets on it. And use a gasket shellac like permatex indian head glue or hi tack around the ports.
