Yours is on the list! (see post #188) I am pretty sure that the smilies are included in the 50max. IIRC from what the 'error' message said.

    Nice job Paul :tiphat:

Maybe you could add which 70's were what was considered 69.5 cars with the key under the dash. We might even see a VIN when they changed over

Mine is a real late 69.5 - built in OCT of 69 as per Marti and Ford 999 :)

Yeah, I like that idea! I'll see what I can do. If yours is a 69.5, then all the ones before you should be as well, right? Maybe we can just flag the "last 69.5" and keep changing it as more people add their VINs and indicate if theirs was a 69.5 or not.

I don't know why, but I thought August was the changeover from 69.5 to 70. October seems reall late, indeed.

In the pod, under the dash plus the original steering column never had a place for one either

Another thing, my harness is definitly made for the 69.5 ignition pod. Also I know who the original owner was and where my car was originally bought - 8 miles from my house.

Maybe we could double check with a few known owners with lower VIN numbers than mine just to be sure - maybe mine is some weird fluke

No, no! I believe you! We should contact the people with VINs just above yours to see where the trail ends. I wonder if there was/is any literature from Ford that has a date w.r.t. ignition switches? I assume that the 69.5 and the 70 switches were different part numbers???

IF they were different, there is usually a note in the parts look-up telling the parts guy/gal the date that the change was made. My parents Taurus had a similar thing with the headlights. When I tried to buy new lenses, it listed two different sets. One said up to 06/10/98 and the other said after 06/10/98. Of course, the door sticker on the car just said 06/98:hmmm:

So if everyone bought a Marti Report, and found out their build date, then we would be able to narrow in on "the last 69.5".:D

No, just mentioning all of the matching parts that would come on any 69.5 still existing on one built in October :)

According to the Master Parts Catalog...the '70 had 3 different ignition switches. The locking steering wheel was in production before 10/1/69. (Maverick is P)

As best that I can remember, my column was non-locking so it would fall under the "70 - P (non-locking column) 6 cylinder All"

With an ignition switch under the dash, was it even possible to have a locking column?
