Can somebody help me with my order. i dont see what there asking for. For one thing i have no seams? And i think my top is a HALO top. This is what it says. VINYL TOPS universal- not customfitted. measurements: 43" between seams;76"center deck, front to back; 93" sides, front to back 93". Please specify the following when ordering: year, body style, color and distance between seams. That was word for word! SAY WHAT???
I beleive mine had seams...I think the seams might help keep the edges from bunching as our tops do have some curve or dome effect. I was planing on applying the measurements to my roof and checking out the lines.
vinyl top picture Heres a picture of the top. It's an old picture before I put the wheels on but the top is what I have. thanks for the help
Thanks for the ID on the top. I called Autokrafters today. They were just as confused as me on the ordering of the top. They took my number and said they would call me back. They're calling their manufacturer and the shipping dept. to make things more ledgible When I do hear something from them I will post it on the website. Thanks again to all.
You can save alot of money and get the top from here ... http://www.atrim.com/Page69.html It will come as a large square piece ... estimate the size and then see link above ... and here is a thread where I installed one ... http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=19099
My 74 was fine under the top, but I plan on painting it. I searched for a non-seamed replacement and couldn't find one.
vinyl top Ya not a bad idea to just paint the roof aftere. But we have already shot original color on the car, and still need to spray clear. The old paint just had what we call psoriasis! AND are SO tired of sanding. lol. OK here's a question do i have to take all the old glue off the roof if it's as hard as concrete!! before i glue the new top on? The old glue looks like 3M contact cement is that what i use to put the new vinyl top on?
Here's my trick for removing the leftover vinyl top glue. It's fairly cheap and it does work. Get yourself a couple of cans of WD40 and spray it on the roof. Let it sit for a while, say 20 minutes to a half hour. Then scrap off the softened glue with a razorblade scrapper or a putty knife. You may have to do this more than once, but it will get the glue off. Just remember, you will need some type of solvent to remove the WD40 when you are done. It all must be removed before even attempting to put the new top on. Engine degreaser should do the trick.
up date on american trim an upholstery They no longer do tops for cars. But will sell the material to us by the yard the only thing is that it only comes as' a standard at 54" wide off the roll that will work for a halo top ie no seames with some light streching along the back glass.
