Dan, Wow, nice job, I give you a ton of credit for trying to do "lots" of things to your car yourself. I'm a lot like you, if I have never done it, I research the heck out of it to find out how. Been doing a lot of home remodeling, and I want a professional looking result, amazing how much info is on the internet. Anyway, I have a question for you, how does the windshield trim come off? Someday I'm going to have to remove mine, as I also want to paint it black for the Stallion treatment. Even in my younger years when I was painting cars in my Dad's shed, I never had to remove that trim, only tape it off. Is it a pain, or fairly simple to remove and re-install? Hey, thanks again Dan for the updates and great learning experiences! Art
I use one of these type tools. Available at most auto parts stores or body supply shops. Slide it under the chrome until you feel a clip ... and then give it a twist ... it takes some practice to get the hang of it ...
Can you still get the chrome trim for the vinyl tops? I have a complete set in good shape, and have been afraid to throw it away, thinking it is an irreplacable part. If you can just go out and buy it, I am tossing mine... ...unless someone wants it
If you mean the chrome for the full vinyl top, and it isn't scratched and pitted, I would be interested in it....
I thought it was a full vinyl top, but after looking at some of yours, mine didn't go down to the trunk lid, or below the top of the rear window except for two strips down the back. Mine did not cover the area behind the popout windows where the MAV emblem is. I am pretty sure mine was stock...did they come 3/4 length and full-length?
