I was 23 when the Maverick was introduced. Already had about 5 cars then. :)

1968 Cougar in 1990 and a 1970 Cougar convertible about two years after that. I drove and redid the 68 off and on until selling it about six months ago. The first model I remember having was a Maverick, though. It was yellow. I'm not sure of the year, but it had small bumpers. I wrecked it along with most of the models I built as a kid. Hopefully all that is out of my system.

Well, my first car was a '70 Maverick but it was in need of alot of work so it was never on the road during my possession. After we got rid of it I got my '73 Grabber that I currently have and that was my first car I ever drove on the street. I remember the day I got home from getting my license I took it out on a nice long drive for the first time by myself.

    Mojo,

I remeber the Chrysler push button shift as my Grandpa had a '64 Newport wagon so equipped. Cool!

MY FIRST CAR WAS A 68 BISCANE. I BOUGHT MY FIRST MAV OUT OF NECESITTY. MY EX-WIFE TOOK MY CADDY IN THE DIVORCE. THEN I SAW THIS COPPER COLOR MAV SITTING ON A USED CAR LOT. 74 MAV,250 i6,A/C,POWER STERRING,AUTO. RADIO DELETE. I THINK IT WAS A SALES MANS CAR. THE INTERIOR WAS LIKE IT WAS RIGHT OFF THE SHOW ROOM. $250.00. DROVE TO A STEREO SHOP, WHERE I SPENT ABOUT $200.00 MORE. THEN THAT AFTER NOON A BUDDY OFFERED ME $2000 FOR IT AND I SAID NO.
SIDE BAR TO THAT LIL TID BIT, MY EX-WIFE, SAME ONE PARKED IT ON A BUSY STREET CORNER AND A BUS CAME BY AND TOTALED IT. YOU CAN SAY SHE GOT TWO CARS FROM ME.

My Comet was my second car. I still owned my first car(Renault Alliance). When I got my third car(dodge Aspen) I had three. The Comet is still around and still runs. And some people here in San Angelo wonder why I'm a Ford fan.

my father gave $300 at a pawn shop for my '76 4 door mav.
i drove it my senior year at high school, until a week before graduation.
an old guy in a conversion van pull across the road in front of me, and so ended my first car when i slammed into the side of him.
the four doors were handy, seeing as i was the first in my group of friends to have a car.

the next group transporter was a 68 or 69 vw westy of my friend's... and my life was changed forever :yup:

but it all got started with a $300 maverick (y) ... and it may come full circle one day.
