INteresting ... I wonder how they got an 8-track radio to fit in the standard 70/72 bezel? It must have been cut?

It didn't seem to be cut.
Remember now that the radio was just like the 1st pic I posted.
It had short radio part and no buttons at all.
I believe that is how it fit.

I don't see how the bezel wasn't at least ground out a little. An 8 track tape does not fit through the opening in the stock bezel. Were 8 track players optional on '70-'73.5 cars?

I'd be willing to bet the answer is 'no'...
I'd also be willing to bet that it was dealer installed...
I wouldn't put it past a dealer to grind here and there on the bezel.

Glad you're OK, and that it sounds like it was a one-time thing.

If you go back there, I really could use a set of proper seat tracks. I already have 1973 Cougar buckets in my Comet and had three sets of tracks to choose from. The ones that I used were closest to fitting, but without butchering the floor, these seats are too far back. At 6'1", I can drive the car on the second notch forward.
My wife needs a pillow behind her ... :rofl2:
