My friend from the local wrecking yard called me yesterday and said they were pulling some cars from the weeds and I might want something from them, they are both Mustang II's my brother got the front clips and I walked away with a 3.40 punkin and a 3.50 posi punkin, I didn't know they came with 3.50s or posi rears? the 3.50 posi was from a 77 model and the 3.40 was from a 76. I'm planning on installing the 3.50 Monday or Tuesday. I also got one of those 3 spoke sport steering wheels everyones going crazy over, the vinyl is a little worn but a leather cover would look nice stitched over it. Also someone told me to get the torque converter from it, they said it is a factory stall converter but I need to use it with the small bellhousing that comes with it? anyone ever heard of this?

Congrats on the finds. Im not sure about factory stall converters, But they did have a small and a big bellhousing for C4s, they used different tooth flywheels.

the mustang IIs had an even smaller 143 tooth bell housing. I think I recall hering about them having a slightly larger stahl/Stall converter around 2000 but they may just be an auto legend.

I've heard people say that Pinto/M2 torque converters ran a higher stall, but that they
were unreliable under lots of torque. As stated, this could be hot rod myth.
