Having a reserve is the right way to sell a bigger ticket item. It protects you if the bidding does not go up to where you would be happy selling it at. You also have no obligation to tell it to anyone unless you want to, but don't be offended if they are asking you what it is. It is common for people to ask - just say its a secret!

Think of the whole thing in the live auction type setting. If the auctioneer started the bidding out too high, it might scare away the bidders. So he starts low and builds it up. If the item has a reserve and it is not met - the auctioneer will take it down off the block with a "no sale". Remember too that on ebay - you may not get a decent bid going until the last day or the last few minutes of the auction. Most bidders hold off and try to snatch the item at a good deal in the last few minutes. The early days of a bigger ticket item are when people are doing their research and they will bid later on. You are getting lots of email questions - that is always a good sign - shows that the interest is there.

    Oh - one more thing

Watch out for emails that say they want to buy it now and don't want to wait until the end of the auction. Even if they are offing you over your reserve. Let the auction run its course. They will bid if they want it, and will pay more than they are offing you for ending early. Just tell them that you will let the auction run its course and if it doesn't meet your reserve you will get back to them.

    Good Luck [IMG]

I will be readily available in the afternoon and evenings tomorrow through Friday. If absolutely necessary, I can take off time during buisness hours on those days also.

I do not know where you are in the Bay Area, but, I am approximately 100 miles from Kaiser Hospital in Hayward using 880 N. to Oakland then 80 E. to Sacramento. I have been helping a relative get treatment there lately.

Can you send me an e-mail through the "ask the seller a question" on E-Bay if you want to get directions and to arrange a time (maybe swap telephone numbers)? I know from todays experience that I can easily access that from my work computer tomorrow. I do not know how to use the "private message feature" on this board yet (I know, I am computer mostly-illiterate). If there are any communication problems, fall back on this board/thread. I will check it regularly.

    Thank you.
